"Highly skilled professional" is one of the work based statuses, which was introduced to promote acceptances of those with advanced skills and abilities with the expectation that they can contribute to economic growth and creation of new demand and employment in Japan. Under the points-based system, foreign professionals who earn 70 points or more on the point sheet will be granted the status of “highly skilled foreign professional” and receive preferential immigration treatment such as:
Permission for multiple purposes of activities during their stay in Japan
Grant of a "5 year" period of stay.
Relaxation of requirements for granting of the permission for permanent residence.
Permission for bringing a parent of a highly skilled foreign professional under certain conditions
Permission for a domestic helper, employed by a highly skilled person under certain conditions.
To apply for the "Highly skilled professional" status, you will need to meet the basic requirements of the work based status for your profession and to present support documents for the points you marked. If you are not sure whether you meet the point requirements or not, please feel free to request a consultation.
